About Us
In recent years the advent of compact relatively inexpensive digital cameras has led to a huge resurgence of interest in photography. Many of the original purchasers of digital cameras are now beginning to flex their creative muscles and explore the exciting practical and creative possiblities of 35mm Digital SLR Cameras.
As the world of communications becomes dominated by digital technology and digital communications reaches into every aspect of our daily lives we are presented with employment opportunities that were unimaginable only a decade ago. With the arrival of the World Wide Web opportunities to participate in this digital revolution are no longer limited to those living in the great urban centres such as Los Angeles, New York or even Dublin. Creative and innovative people living in the midland counties now have the opportunity to contribute to the digital revolution on a level playing field.
County Longford VEC through its Adult Education Services and Longford County Council through its Arts Office have come together in partnership to establish the Midland College of Photography. Our initial objectives are to teach digital photography and its associated skills, to enable photographers to develop their talents and equally, to develop digital skill that may enable them to begin a career in the burgeoning multi-media sector.
